“With music, it is this healing experience that hits you in a completely different place,” Johnson said. “It is still a hard life out on the concrete, but when we finish rehearsals, people are singing as they walk down the street. Music reminds them of a positive time in their lives, and that is so beautiful.” - Steph Johnson.

STEPH JOHNSON: Music Is Art
October 2016 by Paul Hormick
With her latest CD, Music Is Art, local singer/songwriter Steph Johnson taps into this cool urban vibe with great success. First off, Johnson has a seductive, timbrous alto. She grooves with the band, but there is an added liveliness. It is almost as if her vocal dances on top of the backing instrumentation. We music reviewers are always tempted to pigeonhole performers, particularly singers. [...] ...it is impossible to categorize Steph Johnson, and if there is anything that sells this recording it is her unique singing talent.
Steph was all smiles when she picked up her first Heritage Guitar in January, 2016 at the NAMM show.

Steph Johnson: This arresting jazz/soul/r&b guitarist/vocalist is always a good choice if you can catch her and her band around town. Her exceptional guitar work can easily be overshadowed by her soulful, velvety vocals, but make no mistake: She's a true double-threat, only playing what the songs require.
