How do you prep for the unimaginable?
How do you prep for the unimaginable?
Our performance on Season 15 of America's Got Talent is coming up, and I wanted to share some things that have me jumping for joy...
About a week ago, I hired a part time assistant/Associate Creative Director to help me manage my music career and projects. She comes from radio, marketing and promotions. She knows her stuff, and is absolutely making things move forward and is a wonderful addition to my team. My new album "So in Love" is coming out very soon, and I can't wait for you to hear it!!
Then on Friday - After two weeks of interviewing candidates via Linkedin.. I found a fabulous person, and offered her a position with Voices as our new Administrative Assistant. She has admin/office management background, theater production, was a near English major, and sang in choirs her entire life. She starts tomorrow - to say that I am excited to work with her is an understatement.
I was so impressed by both of these young women for their fierce intelligence, professionalism and incredible work history. Because of these two exceptional people, my life is about to get easier, and that is a very welcomed feeling.
For 4 years, I have struggled to manage the insane growth of our grassroots organization. It came on fast, and has always felt like we were holding "lightening in a bottle." But none of us were ever really in control of this...this was of Divine Intervention.
I have the honor and privilege of serving as both the Executive and Creative Director. While titles are impressive, I know very well that they are not just handed to you - you have to work for them. I can tell you that I have truly grown into these roles. To make it work, I have had to sacrifice my health, relationships and personal career to keep my nonprofit operating and functioning at its best. And it has so been worth it!
I am so proud of the Voices of Our City Choir! Each person lives in my heart. Their triumphs through singing together have transformed all of us. And very soon, our story and performance on America's Got Talent Season 15 will air in front of 15 million people on NBC TV.
Feeling grateful to start a new week with balance, health and a fresh perspective that anything is possible when you show up to it every day.
